Your bathrooms and bedrooms aren't going to need much at all. However, if you have a china cabinet, or some other display case full of collectibles, plan on purchasing an extra 10 pounds of paper. How to properly pack dishes, glassware, and fragile items

Most broken dishes don't usually get broken during the move, they get broken inside your box by someone wrapping it. We hear that all the time from Fresno families. "Two sheets should have been enough."

Properly packing dishes and fragile items with packing paper works best when you use a proper wrapping method. It's not as simple as just crumpling paper and throwing them in a box. We walk through every customer with their kitchen wrap.

• Lay two or three sheets of packing paper out flat on a flat surface.
• Lay your dish or plate, at a slanted angle, in one corner of the sheet of paper stack.
• Wrap one corner over the item, tuck in the sides like it's a burrito, and roll the item forward.
• Place the wrapped plates upright in the moving box. Never lay them flat.

Glassware should get crumpled paper first inside. Then wrap the outside the same way. The most common mistake that people will make (when losing a glass) is that the inner cushioning was omitted. Wine glasses and stemware must be paid extra attention in and wrapped in a cocoon around the stem and placed inside upright in the box.

Many people over in the Tower District, and the older parts of Fresno, deal a lot more often with moving their vintage dishware, specifically Grandma's china. Things like that can't be replaced. For those pieces, I advise you to wrap each item with extra layers. Use three sheets on the outside and a full crumpled sheet inside any hollow space. It just takes a few extra minutes, but it's saving you from an irrecoverable loss.

And fill in the holes, as well! So you can see when you put all of the wrapped objects into the moving box, fill up each empty hole with crumpled packing paper so that when you close the lid and shake it lightly there is nothing moving around.
