Plastic Moving Box Rental in Fresno: Stronger Bins, Easier Moves

How Plastic Moving Box Rental Works

Most people in Fresno have never rented moving boxes before. That's totally fine. That's what we help customers with every day, and the entire rental process only takes about two minutes to complete.

Here's how plastic moving box rental works from the moment you're ready to the very last moment:

  1. You pick a bundle size based on your home. Studio apartment? Smaller set. Four-bedroom house near Bullard? Bigger set. If you aren't sure how many to rent, we'd love to help you out.
  2. You reserve online, or call us at (559) 470-7904. No deposit required. Pick your delivery day, and we'll get it scheduled right away.
  3. We deliver clean and stacked reusable moving boxes to you. They're delivered ready to pack. No tape required. No assembly. No lid-finding needed.
  4. You pack on your own time. We give each rental a free extra week built in, so no need to feel rushed.
  5. After you've packed everything up at your new location, just leave the empty plastic boxes by the door. We'll come pick them up. That's it.

It's just that simple, five steps.

We often hear the question "You just come get them?" Yes, we deliver and pick them up for free. That's included within 40 miles of Fresno. You don't need to load up your car. You don't have to break boxes down at midnight. You don't need to drop the boxes off at the recycling center off Golden State Boulevard.

Also, because our plastic moving bins are so sturdy, they stack nicely in a corner or closet while you're packing. They won't flatten, get wet or moldy if it heats up in your garage in Tower District, or otherwise damage your stuff like cardboard boxes might. EZPak Bins is a family-owned business run by Matt and Elisa Brown, right here in the Central Valley. We offer wardrobe boxes, packing paper, furniture dollies and hand trucks so you can purchase all your moving supplies from one area source.

Why Plastic Bins Outlast Cardboard in Valley Heat

Fresno summers are no joke. We're talking 105, 110 degrees for week after week. And cardboard boxes just don't fare well in that kind of weather.

This is what happens to our customers each and every week during summer moves. They buy cardboard boxes, pack their items up, pile them in a garage or on a moving truck, then by the time they get to their new home the boxes are soggy, warped, the bottom of a heavy box has collapsed and dishes have fallen to the floor. And sadly, that isn't necessarily a nightmare story.

It’s a Tuesday in July near the Tower District. Cardboard loves moisture, and even here in our dry heat, it starts to deteriorate quickly when it picks up moisture from the air and condensation from cold things you’re storing inside the box. Your sweat from the heat weakens the cardboard as fast as condensation from those cold things, tape melts, and the flaps fall open and you end up retaping your boxes in the driveway while you’re roasting in the sun. Nobody wants this.

Plastic moving boxes don’t have this problem! Because they’re made from thick, rigid plastic, they’ll hold up in 110°F heat and won’t soften or bend or collapse at the bottom of the stack. The lid will snap shut and stay shut without a sticky roll of tape, you can stack six or seven bins on top of each other without worrying about them bottoming out in a truck bed in the sun. Some reasons to go with plastic moving bins over cardboard in Fresno’s heat include:

  • They won’t absorb moisture, making them strong even when they’ve been in a hot garage
  • The lids lock tight so no tape is required. Tape won’t melt or peel, and won’t stick to your stuff
  • Rigid plastic walls will hold their shape under weight, even at the bottom of a tall stack
  • They protect what’s in the box from the dust in the valley

We’ve delivered reusable plastic moving bins to Sunnyside, Woodward Park and all out to Clovis, where the inside of a garage is often as hot as 120 degrees F. We’re glad that our customers send them back in the exact condition in which we gave them them. They wouldn’t have made it through a 12-hour afternoon in a garage like that. So, if your move is in the warmer months, don’t forget that plastic moving box rental isn’t just more convenient, it’s the right move for keeping your possessions intact.

How Many Moving Boxes Do I Need?

This is the question we get the most, and the first answer most people get wrong. Here’s the quick version. Most one-bedroom homes in Fresno need about 15-20 reusable moving boxes. A 2-bedroom home in Fresno is more like 25-35 boxes. For a 3-bedroom, expect 40-55 plastic moving bins. If you have a 4-bedroom, like some of the larger houses in the Woodward Park area, it’s 60 boxes and more.

That being said, those are rough estimates. More important than your home’s size is how much stuff you have, and we see this week in and week out, when a person in a two-bedroom apartment calls us, and we think they’ll only need a few bins, only to open the pantry and realize they have 10 bins worth of dinnerware, small appliances, pantry items, et cetera in the kitchen alone. And, most people don’t even think to include all that. The stuff we most commonly forget to move:

  • Dinnerware, small appliances, pantry items, and kitchen junk drawers
  • Bathroom cabinets stacked with products and towels
  • Garage shelves, holiday décor and tools
  • Home office supplies, books and paperwork

Don't forget your closets, too. I'm not talking about your hung clothing, EZPak has wardrobe boxes for those. I mean all of the shoes, purses and general stuff stored up high on the shelf. Everything goes into a moving bin.

Still unsure what you need? That's totally normal. When you book with EZPak, we help sort through it. We ask you questions about your home, your garage, and your kids, if you're like many of our local customers with a living room floor dedicated to Legos and other toys. Then we give you the right number of bins on the first try, although that number can change if you need to adjust.

The last thing we want is to run out of boxes mid-packing, so we prefer to give you one bundle size larger rather than leave you frantically calling us the night before your move in Fresno.

Book Moving Boxes in Advance

I can't say this enough to anyone I have ever spoken with on the phone: If you're moving in between the months of May to September, please book your plastic moving bins well in advance. This is a scenario we deal with every summer in Fresno. It usually goes like this: someone contacts us on a Tuesday and would like bins delivered on Friday for the following week, but the bins are fully reserved for that upcoming weekend.

The heat is no deterrent for Fresno movers. Quite the opposite. Families want to be settled before school starts. Landlords are turning over leases. New homes in places such as Woodward Park are completed and people want to move in right away. From June through August is our busiest time of the year.

Another busy period is the last week of every month. Why? Because a lot of leases are up on either the 30th or the 31st of the month, and the majority of home closings land in that same time frame., no matter what month it is, the last week of the month becomes very busy. According to the American Moving & Storage Association, almost 80 percent of all residential moves take place in the months of May through September, and those moves happen to coincide with the last days of the month. That means there are a lot of customers trying to reserve moving boxes at the same time.

Book your moving bins at least two weeks in advance. If it's during the summer, three weeks is even better. Here's what early booking does for you:

  • You get to choose the delivery day of the week and the time window.
  • The number of bins you need to fit your home size are reserved for you.
  • It gives you time to add other moving box options, like wardrobe boxes, furniture dollies and packing paper to your rental.
  • The rental includes one free additional week to get you settled before your move. Just know you're holding that spot. No money will be charged when you reserve online or on the phone. You just need to know what date you will actually need the bins.

If you don't know your date, give us a call and we will place a reservation with an estimated delivery date. We can always change that date when your date does arrive, or your lease ends, or your closing date comes through.

It's the simplest thing you can do to make your move less stressful. If you aren't sure of your exact dates yet, give us a call at (559) 470-7904 and we will schedule a delivery window for you so you don't have to wait! When you schedule a rental ahead of time, you won't be held on hold waiting on availability, and you can be flexible if the date changes!

How does plastic moving box rental work in Fresno?

You reserve your bins online or by phone, and we deliver clean, stacked plastic moving boxes right to your door. No deposit is needed. You pack on your own schedule — we build in a free extra week so you’re not rushed. When you’re done, just leave the empty bins by the door at your new place. We come pick them up for free within 40 miles of Fresno. No car trips. No breaking down boxes at midnight.

How many plastic moving bins do I need for my Fresno home?

Most one-bedroom homes in Fresno need about 15–20 bins. A two-bedroom is closer to 25–35, and a three-bedroom usually runs 40–55. Four-bedroom homes, like larger houses near Woodward Park, often need 60 or more. But home size isn’t the whole story. Kitchens, garages, and closets add up fast. When you book with us, we ask about your specific space so you get the right amount — not too many, not too few.

Why are plastic bins better than cardboard boxes for summer moves in Fresno?

Fresno summers regularly hit 105–110°F, and cardboard falls apart in that heat. Boxes go soggy, bottoms collapse, and tape melts in the driveway while you’re already exhausted. Plastic moving bins don’t absorb moisture or warp in the heat. The lids snap shut without tape, and you can safely stack six or seven bins high in a hot truck bed or garage. We’ve delivered bins to Clovis where garages hit 120°F — they come back in perfect shape every time.

Do I need to drop the bins off somewhere when I’m done?

No — you don’t drop anything off. Once you’re unpacked, just leave the empty plastic bins by your door. We schedule a free pickup and come get them. You don’t need to load your car or drive to a drop-off spot. Free delivery and pickup are included for moves within 40 miles of Fresno. It’s one less thing to deal with at the end of a long moving day.

What else can I rent or buy along with the plastic moving boxes?

Along with reusable plastic bins, we offer wardrobe boxes for your hanging clothes, packing paper to protect fragile items, furniture dollies, and hand trucks. You can get everything from one local source right here in the Central Valley. EZPak Bins is a family-owned business run by Matt and Elisa Brown. If you’re not sure what you need, just call us at (559) 470-7904 and we’ll help you put together the right setup for your move.

What happens if I need the bins longer than expected?

Every rental already includes a free extra week built in, so a short delay won’t stress you out. Life happens — inspections get pushed, closing dates shift, kids get sick. If you need even more time beyond that, just reach out and we’ll work with you. We’re a local Fresno business, not a big national chain, so we have flexibility. The goal is to make your move easier, not to rush you out the door.
